Thesis Title: Physiological responses during (ultra-) distance running

Dr. Christopher Byrne
Prof. Roger Eston

About

I am a PhD candidate within the Bioenergetics and Human Performance Research Group @ University of Exeter (England) where I also act as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate and masters' practicals in human physiology.

My current area of research revolves around physiological responses to ultra-distance running, with a particular emphasis on body temperature regulation within competitive settings. Indeed, I am now in the process of analyzing the data I collected during 3 consecutive field studies; these included the Singapore marathon, the Two Oceans ultra-marathon (56km, Cape Town, South Africa) as well as the Comrades ultra-marathon (89km, Durban, South Africa).

I initially graduated in Dietetics (Claude Bernard University Institute of Technology, Lyon, France), Sport & Exercise Science (Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland) & Ergonomics (University of South Normandy, Caen, France) and maintain a genuine interest about the interactions taking place between individuals, their activities and the environment they are evolving in.
